ABOUT
Melissa Brookfield
Melissa has over 14 years of experience treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, with a particular focus on disorders of the jaw, head and neck.
She has undertaken extensive additional training in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of these complex areas. Melissa is passionate about ongoing professional development and is committed to staying current with evidence-based practice to ensure her patients receive the highest standard of care.
Melissa enjoys treating patients at all stages of life — from newborns and children to expectant mothers and the wider family.
She graduated from RMIT University in 2012 and has practised in Launceston and on the Sunshine Coast before settling in Townsville in 2014, where she has since established strong connections within the local community.
Outside the clinic, Melissa is a busy mum to three energetic children and an equally energetic dog named David. In her (very limited) spare time, she enjoys creative pursuits, reading crime novels, staying active at the gym or on the pickleball court, baking, and listening to house music.
SERVICES
Whether you're suffering with pain, headaches, jaw pain, sinus issues, or looking to improve your skeletal health in general, our services may be of benefit. ]New to osteopathy? Start learning about it here.
JAW & OROFACIAL PAIN
An Osteo can complement your care by:
-
Easing tension in chewing muscles through massage and/or dry needling

Gently improving jaw joint mobility
-
Assess the neck, head, and upper back for contributing restrictions
-
Prescribing home exercises or stretches
An Osteo can provide manual release of the lateral pterygoid (a deep jaw muscle). It can feel intense in the moment, but most of my patients say it's totally worth it for the relief that follows!
HEADACHE / MIGRAINE
Osteopaths help alleviate headaches, especially tension, cervicogenic (neck-related), and migraine types.
Techniques include but not limited to:
I believe in addressing the root causes of pain rather than just treating the symptoms.
